Obesity in Children Becoming an Epidemic Problem

Obesity in children, specifically in the United States, is out of control and continuing to soar. One in three children in America are obese with numbers still on the rise.

Factor’s that constitute extreme weight problems in our kids are lack of physical exercise, genetics, unhealthy foods or practices. A child that is at risk of developing diabetes and heart disease’s activities have a direct link to their families’ food and activity levels. While the caloric intake of children have increased dramatically their energy levels have completely faltered.

In order to decrease these numbers in children we need to increase our families’ involvement in the child’s activities and diet. It’s more than likely that a child who is overweight comes from a family who is over weight. If families or parental figures take back control and limit television, video game, and computer use by being an example themselves that alone will help decrease these numbers.

If you are concerned with your child’s health the best way to know if your child is obese is to consult a doctor. Remember to be positive and there for your child. Most importantly be a LIVING EXAMPLE to your little ones. What power do we have if we’re trying to make our kids live a healthy lifestyle if we don’t practice what we preach.
